520 | _aThe rationale behind publishing a commemorative reprint of an influential book by an iconic figure may seem transparent. It provides a basis to reflect on the long dead author’s achievements and shortcomings, and to reassess the qualities of the written work. In the mid-1980s my wife, a nurse and academic, first introduced me to Florence Nightingales Notes on Nursing and to the relevance of her ideas in the contemporary world. I was immediately intrigued about the extent of this continuing influence and, particularly from my own perspective, about the bibliographical history of this work. | ||
